One of the many issues brought up in community dialogue sessions held with East Cleveland residents were the safety of our children within the community. More specifically, the safety of our children as they walk home from school. The Parent Patrol is a project initiated by NOAH designed to address this issue. The project goals consist of strengthening the current Parent organizations within East Cleveland schools by; aiding them in building membership for the purpose of increasing parent participation; finding and making available resources that can be used for organizing parent patrols, such as trainings; develop support from City Officials for the safety of our children and finally to empower the parents of our community to patrol our children as they walk home from school in order to ensure their safety as well as influence our children in a positive way by virtue of a parent presence.

The parent safety patrol will serve as a resource of new leaders to aid NOAH in the betterment of East Cleveland. The ultimate goal is to find and develop leaders, demonstrate the power of working together within the community and encourage East Cleveland City Pride.

In the School year of 2008-09, parent patrols were built in all 5 elementary schools in East Cleveland with over 50 parents and community volunteers that participated.
A special thanks to Mayfair, Caledonia, Superior, Prospect and Chambers Elementary Schools, Superintendent Myrna Loy Corley, Case Western University (MSAS) and community volunteers.
