The Northeast Ohio Alliance For Hope has spearheaded a parent organizing campaign on the West Side of Cleveland. After complaints about a lack of safety for kids walking home from school, Brooklyn Memorial United Methodist Church, a NOAH member, together with leaders from NOAH organized parents at Denison Elementary to form a Parent Patrol. The goal of the Parent Patrol is to extend a safety net around the school of parent who will keep track of kids and be on the lookout for potential safety problems in the neighborhood.

“A man was recently strangled in his home close to the school and there are suspicions it’s drug related,” says Pastor Jennifer Steinfurth of Brooklyn Memorial. “That’s why we need to get parents organized and on the lookout for problems in the neighborhood.” Plans are in place to expand the organizing into three more schools in the area.

For more information, please contact the NOAH office at (216) 834-2324.
